 | The
contract expired on August 30, 2003. At
this time it has not been extended and probably will not be extended. |
 | The
ROEA is working without a contract but negotiations are still ongoing.
This means that new grievances filed at this time will not be able to
go to arbitration. The
grievances can only go to step 2. |
 | Health
benefits, step increases in salary, evaluations, etc. continue as in the
past even though the contract has not been extended. |
 | The
MEA is currently dealing with rumors about how strikes will not occur since
Governor Granholm is a democrat endorsed by the MEA.
This is not true; the MEA is willing to endorse a strike if they feel
that the bargaining is not being done in good faith. |
 | Next
scheduled dates for bargaining are Thursday, September 25, 2003 and Monday,
September 29, 2003. |
 | The
administrators involved in the actual negotiations are Tom Shorkey, Sandra
Standel, John Swartz and occasionally Kay Cornell. |
 | Items
that are being negotiated at the bargaining sessions were discussed. |
 | President
Kardon answered questions and concerns that members had about negotiations |
