Charleen Madill

Charleen Madill

Here is an outline of comments made by Stuart Asch in introducing Charleen Madill:

Husband Kent

Taught in Ferndale and Rochester Public Schools

Taught Music Education classes at Oakland University

Taught private lessons in her home studio as well as the Rochester Conservatory

Charleen founded the Rochester String Ensemble, a community youth orchestra, and was its primary conductor for 22 years

Hired by R. 0. in the early 90’s to teach orchestra at Keller. Has taught at every level in the district and in at least 12 of the schools

Keller's orchestra has grown from 22 members to today’s orchestra of 50 under her direction.

Charleen will do practically anything for a good piece of chocolate

She loves coffee out of a styrofoam cup. Nothing fancy, just good coffee

She thinks that Star Trek is the reason television was invented.

When Charleen teaches it is with a graceful and delicate manner.

Charleen was up for the nomination as "String Teacher of the Year” for American String Teachers’ Association. Even though Charleen did not win the nomination it was an honor to be nominated by her peers.

Charleen and Kent will be moving out west where she hopes to write children’s books as well as teaching private students the art of playing the cello.
