Mary Johnston

Debbie Pawlowski, Bertha Arribas and Sid Kardon congratulate Mary (second from left).

Debbie Pawlowski introduced Mary Johnston by reading memories of Mrs. Johnston written by her former students:

We know she taught about rabbits and rocks. She liked to crack open dragons’ eggs at night. She kept her kittens in her desk drawer and her skateboard in her closet. She always slept at school. We think her bed was hidden behind the chalkboard.

Her goal was to never let her students find out where she slept.

She taught hard every day and was the best teacher in the universe. That’s what made her SUPER!

She wants to be a professional skateboarder when she grows up. She’ll make enough money skateboarding to open up her own flower shop called “The Green Thumb."
