Minutes from the April 9, 2001 meeting were approved.
2.
SICK
BANK: Approved 4 requests
for Sick Bank for 47.5
days leaving a total of
60.5 days in the Sick Bank.
[Corrected to 65 days because of 5 days returned to Sick
Bank.}
3.
PERSONAL EMERGENCY DAY:
Postponed one request for P.E. Day.
4.
PURPOSE OF JOINT COMMITTEE AND OR JOINT COMMITTEE MINUTES:
Discussion.
5.
PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT 2001-02: Discussion
of the possibility of
A 2-day in-service in October as opposed to
a day in October and one in March.
The ROEA will discuss this with their Executive Board and
Curriculum Sub-Committee will begin to plan.
The ROEA will bring a calendar recommendation back to Joint
Committee.
6.
TUESDAY
MEETING SCHEDULE: A draft
was presented for the 2001-02 school
Year.
The ROEA will review and this will be on the June agenda.
7.
TEACHER EVALUATION: The
area of technology as a part of the evaluation process was dealt with
in negotiation and an agreement was reached that technology would be
included on the evaluation form.
The change to the form was not made for this year, but will be
made next year.
8.
RELEASE TIME FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS:
The plan was discussed—elementary teachers will have 200
minutes of planning time.
9.
SPECIAL EDUCATION MILLAGE:
There will be a county millage in September and the ROEA is
interested in working on passing the millage.
We will all work together since everyone would benefit from the
additional funds. Dr.
Gaynor shared that, at this time, it appears there will be 2 ballot
items: one special ed and
one voc ed.
10.
SPECIAL EDUCATION LAW CHANGES:
Discussion of proposed changes.
We need more information and we’ll continue to watch this
unfold.
11.
PLANNING TIME: Agreed
to compensate a teacher for lost planning time in the first semester.
12.
VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL: Brief
discussion of issues related to these services.
This will be discussed further at future meetings.
13. STAFFING: Discussion
of a positions/assignments for the 2001-02 school year.
