JOINT COMMITTEE

IN ATTENDANCE: S. Standel, S. Gaynor, K. Cornell, S. Kardon, K.
Pino, L. Flynn
- INTEREST BASED-BARGAINING: Presentation with Michael Nowakowski,
and Micki Czermiak on the concept of IBB.
- APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM DECEMBER 13, 2000: Minutes were
approved as corrected.
- SICK BANK REQUESTS: Approved 2 requests for sick days for a
total of 35 days which leaves a balance of 246.5 days in the bank.
- TEACHER SCHEDULE: Discussed the schedule for one teacher.
- REMUNERATION FOR CISCO/NOVELL TRAINING: Reviewed the agreement
that has been reached for Cisco and Novell training.
- PERSONAL EMERGENCY DAYS: Approved 2 requests for P.E. days
before Winter Break.
- ASSOCIATION BUSINESS DURING SCHOOL DAY: Association business
should not be conducted during the school day.
- HIRING OUTSIDE THE DISTRICT: Some concerns were expressed
regarding hiring of personnel outside the district.
- PLACEMENT ON SALARY SCHEDULE: Discussed placement of new hires
on salary schedule.
- SPECIAL EDUCATION SUBSTITUTES: Discussion of when teachers are
reimbursed for subbing for another teacher during the day. Past
practice has been to pay teachers only for planning time missed.
- LATE CALL-INS: Teachers need to make extra efforts to call in as
early as possible for a substitute. When people call in late, it
is very difficult to get a substitute and both teachers and
students are penalized.
- JANUARY 17 IN-SERVICE: Over sixty-five teachers did not show up
or call on Jan. 17 for the in-service. Principals will be
following up on this.
- GRIEVANCES: One grievance has been resolved and one will be
resolved next week.
- NEXT MEETING: March 2, 2000 at the Board Office at 1:00 p.m.
