The ROEA contract describes Curriculum Subcommittee as follows:

Curriculum Subcommittee

bulletThe Curriculum Subcommittee shall consist of the superintendent’s designee and two (2) Board representatives as well as three (3) representatives of the Association who have been appointed by the Association.
bulletThe Curriculum Subcommittee shall advise the Joint Committee and the Association on such matters as teaching techniques, courses of study, textbooks, curriculum guides, pupil testing and evaluation, philosophy and educational goals of the District, research and experimentation, educational specifications for buildings and related matters.
bulletThe Curriculum Subcommittee shall review in-service proposals issued from the individual Building Faculty Committees (BFCs) and principals.
bulletThe subcommittee shall recommend new committees when necessary to meet the curriculum needs of the District and nominate candidates for subcommittee assignments.
bulletRequests for additional early release days for in-service and parent/teacher conferences may be initiated with the Curriculum Subcommittee.
bulletThis subcommittee shall meet once per month, as necessary, at times during, but not limited to, school hours. Association representatives on said committee shall be accorded released time from regular duties and without cost to the Association, or to said representatives, in order to attend regularly scheduled meetings.
bulletThe Curriculum Subcommittee shall send a summary of its findings and recommendations to the Joint Committee each month.

Email from Subcommittee members on 9/29/04:

We would like to inform you about our positions and what we do for you.  The three of us are members of the ROEA Executive Board and our official titles are:  Elementary Director, Middle School Director, and High School Director.   Together with the administration, we make up the group called, "Curriculum Subcommittee".  We meet monthly with the administration and discuss curriculum issues.  Examples are:  length of marking periods, adopting new textbooks, student testing, etc.  Other matters related to curriculum that we discuss are listed in the contract.  We send out our minutes via email so please read them over.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact one of us.  We're here to represent you so let us know if we can help.  Our next meeting is Thurs. Sept. 30 at 2:00 pm .  If you have immediate concerns, contact us ASAP otherwise we can bring them to the next meeting.
