Transition Process:

year. Refer to the “transition”
link on the district website.
Secondary Marking Periods – 6 Weeks vs. 10 Weeks:In light of the transition of both the high school and middle school, we will begin addressing the issue. The first step will be Administrative Council, which is meeting on Monday September 26, 2005
Professional Development: The October 17th date was moved to November 8th due to the MEAP testing window.
Professional Development Surveys: As a result of the surveys that went out in May 2005; writing was the number one topic. There will be teams from each building attending an in-service with Laura Schiller from Oakland Schools. This in-service will be given in the district.
November 8, 2005: Professional
Development will be held in your buildings.
Principals will work with the BFC’s to determine the program for that
day. Special Education in-service
can be addressed with the Special Education Department.
Course Name Change: Course
name changes at the high school level will be discussed at the November 17th
Curriculum Sub Committee meeting.
Elementary – Time and Resources: DRA’s
are not required in the fall. They
are required in the spring. Please
refer to your Grade Level Content Expectations Framework Guide.
Elementary Report Card Revision: The process of aligning the benchmarks/curriculum with the Elementary reports will begin after MEAP testing.
GLCE’s: The GLCE’s for K-8 Science and Social Studies have not yet been approved by the state. The state is predicting they will be approved by January 2006.
District-Wide Accreditation – NCA Plan: The district is considering a district wide NCA plan. The intent is to streamline the process for all buildings. Building plans will remain.Middle School Word Processing Skills: The Curriculum Sub Committee recognizes that this is a concern. At this time, the accountability is for us to focus on the GLCE’s. This may be discussed as a possible exploratory class.
