Curriculum Subcommittee
January 26, 2006
Present: Chris
Baer, Sarah Olson, Lisa McFee, Vincent Caruso, Barbara Pollis
Chair: B. Pollis
Recorder: L. McFee
Secondary Marking
Periods: A committee has been formed. See attached
for a list of members. The first meeting is scheduled for February 16th.
Elementary Report Card:
A committee will be formed this year with the intention of piloting a new
reporting system next year and having new, adopted report cards for the
2007-2008 school year. Teachers will have the opportunity to give input.
Pinnacle:
1. There is great
concern about grade deadlines and report card turnaround time. The concern is
that technology should support instruction rather than drive instruction. The
goal is for Pinnacle to successfully serve the educational needs of our
students. The technology schedule should work around the needs of teachers and
students. Curriculum Subcommittee will ask technology representatives to attend
our next meeting to discuss the timelines for grade submission and scheduling
changes.
2. Access from home is
not consistent. Computer updating is scheduled too early. Could the time be
pushed back a little? Passwords are an issue as well. If passwords expire
while working at home, can't be changed until the next day at school. Why do
there need to be so many different passwords? This will be taken up with the
technology department as well.
3. Can there be
representation from the Middle Schools on the Pinnacle Advisory Committee?
Elementary RCRT's :
Equity among buildings is the concern. This is a Joint Committee issue and will
be referred to them.
Release time: Each
elementary teacher will receive one full day to do DRA testing. An additional
half-day will be provided to teachers of combination classes. Speak with your
building principal about scheduling the time. Also, a half-day will be provided
to train teachers who have not already been trained by someone within the
building.
High School Grading:
Uniformity of grading is the concern. This is an issue that will be addressed
as part of the high school consolidation.
Next meeting: Thursday,
March 16th at 1:00.
